RE-OCCUPYING THE BELLA GAMMA STATION

The historic Bella Gamma transport station, originally built in 1910, has undergone a complete renovation to accommodate the sorting and transportation center of Kaimakas company, marking a return to its original purpose after 123 years. Situated seaside at the crossroads of Othonos-Amalias & Gerokostopoulou streets, the building boasts entrances on both sides.

The building is located seaside, at the intersection of Othonos-Amalias & Gerokostopoulou streets, with an entrance on each side.

Externally, the neoclassical façade was meticulously preserved, with minimal alterations to revive its original charm. Decorative elements and signs were removed, and the roof was replaced with glass for transparency and to pay homage to the station’s original design.

Internally, the building serves dual functions for the company. One section facilitates the loading and unloading of cargo, where efforts focused on restoring the original structure and creating a spacious environment. The other section, located on Gerokostopoulou Street, underwent significant transformation, with the removal of part of the loft to allow for ample natural lighting and the creation of a break area for employees.

Throughout the renovation, the corporate identity’s color scheme was seamlessly integrated to maintain consistency and aid in distinguishing between the two functional sections.

In essence, the project exemplifies the juxtaposition of historical architecture with modern functionality, presenting a refined exterior, a utilitarian interior, and a contemporary workspace tailored to the company’s needs.
