Tetris block is a total renovation project of a 293,10m2 ,70’s building at Dimitriou Gounari 75 str. in the city of Patras. The aim of the project is both interior and exterior renovation in order to be reused as a student’s residence.
This special need forced us to tear down interior walls on all three levels of the building, in order to achieve a new spatial arrangement. The resulting apartment size are between 30 and 49 m2. There are two types of apartments. Each floor has a studio and a two-room apartment.
Each apartment retains a unique character based on a featured color concept, with referrals to materials that were used at the preexisting structure, such us mosaic or wooden floors. Old openings remain, at both sides, and the windows are replaced with black aluminum frames.
The staircase is located at the core of the building, the only light coming in, is thru a roof-light window located at the second floor. The common areas and corridors of the building are painted black and fluorescent lamps are used for lighting; the door of each apartment is colored accordingly to the color pallet used inside.
